[6 September 2018 – Hokkaido Earthquake]
Dear Everyone, the Northern island of Hokkaido, Japan was hit by a magnitude 6.7 earthquake earlier this morning. A smaller magnitude 5.4 aftershock followed soon after.
Club Med Tomamu, Hokkaido approximately over 170km from the epicenter, has felt the tremors but the resort was not affected. All Club Med guests and staff are safe and there was no damage to the property. The resort is fully operational with all activities within the resort ongoing.
New Chitose Airport, is currently closed. The JR train services have currently been suspended. However, Tokachi-Obihiro Airport, is fully operational. Guests about to depart to Japan over the next few days are advised to monitor the situation and check for flight updates with their respective airlines. We are providing all necessary support and assistance to any affected guests currently in the resort ongoing.
